(EDEN, Md.) - A man was found dead in the backyard of a home on the 32-hundred block of Flower Hill Church Road in Eden according to police.
A neighbor from another house saw the body just before 7 o'clock this morning and called the police.
As of this afternoon, investigators had yet to identify the man. It is unknown if the man whose body was found dead actually lived in the house.
Either way, neighbors were shocked to hear the news.
Samuel Whaley said, "Just close to home man... scary when you're living close to home... always heartbreaking... you know what I mean - neighbors and stuff like that."
"There's too much killing - too much killing over drugs and stuff like that. Opioids... everybody's dying from it. What can you do?" said Greensbury Whaley.
We do not know if foul play was involved just yet, but it is being investigated as a homicide.
Even though this is a small town on the eastern shore, this is the second major criminal investigation in the last two years.
In 2015, a man was found in a ditch along backbone in Eden, after being stabbed to death.
Once again, people aren't happy to have their neighborhood as the focus of another apparent criminal investigation.
"It's bad. I don't whether it's drugs or what? I don't know. You never know, "said Greensbury Whaley.
Samuel Whaley said, "It's a nice neighborhood. You just never know what's going to happen."
Authorities are still very early in this investigation, and there are many details we just don't know yet. But when we get those details we'll pass them along to you.
