(MILTON, Del.)- It was all about the environment in Milton as high school students from across Delaware converged on the town. They were there to compete in the 20th annual Envirothon.
Students stopped at green tents set up throughout Cannery Village to test their knowledge on the environment to win college scholarships.
"All the students during the school year have been studying topics such as forestry management, soil, wildlife management," said Rick Mickowski, chair, Del. Envirothon.
Now those skills are put to the test. 24 groups of students rotated between tents to get their hands dirty and answer questions. The top seven teams will win prizes. The Charter of Wilmington took home the first place prize of $2500 college scholarship to split between its five members.
"It's actually several thousand worth of prizes when you count it all up between the teams," said Mickowski.
Gina Zhu, Isaac Kempton, Miles Wang, Vickram Rajerdran, and Sriram Cyr were the members on the Charter of Wilmington first place team.
